DOING BUSINESS RESPONSIBLY: WHEN
CORPORATIONS BECOME CITIZENS
November 7 and 8, 2012
USEK - Kaslik, LEBANON
In June 2012, the United Nations hosted the “Rio+20” global sustainable
development summit in Rio de Janeiro, engaging more than 50,000 government
officials, business leaders and representatives to promote renewed perseverance
concerning sustainable development and the need for tangible and liable steps to
achieve this goal.
The importance of the 2nd PRME MENA Regional Forum (PRME being an active
organizer of the “Rio+20 summit”) is amplified by the growing tendency towards
adopting corporate citizenship, social performance and sustainable responsible
business principles, with an attempt to increase the positive impact that
business schools, management-related academic institutions and companies have on
their various stakeholders and Society at large.
This forum mainly aims at endorsing the notion of responsible business and the
importance of adopting PRME in the MENA region, as per the recommendations of
the 1st Regional Forum at the American University in Cairo in 2011.
An aim of the Forum is to also agree on the objectives of the PRME regional
chapter for the MENA region.
